Select Email Messages in Gmail

There are several actions you can perform on email messages in your Gmail Inbox, such as delete, mark as read, move, etc.
You can press the Applications key or Shift + F10 to select an email message and then get a context menu with actions. This will allow you to perform an action on one email message.
But if you want to perform an action on multiple emails, you need to select them first.
To select an email message, position on the message in the Inbox and press X.
To unselect, press X again.
Then press the Applications key or Shift + F10 for the list of actions.
There are also direct shortcuts for these actions which we will cover over the next few weeks.
Note: If you use a screen reader, you may need to switch the “virtual cursor” off so you can use this Gmail shortcut. Press Insert (or Caps Lock) + Z in JAWS or Insert (or Caps Lock) + Space in NVDA and Narrator.
Microsoft Edge and Mozilla Firefox work the same as Google Chrome for selecting email messages in Gmail.
