To rename a file, position on the file in File Explorer and press F2.
The filename is highlighted and you can just type in the new name to replace it.
Press Enter when finished.
Note: If you have file name extensions switched on, you will need to make sure you keep this information. But when you press F2, the system highlights the filename but keeps the extension, so you just type the new name, and all will be well.
