Insert or Delete Columns and Rows in Excel Spreadsheets

An easy way to insert and delete rows or columns in Excel:
  • Press Control + Plus (Control + Shift + Equals) to bring up the Insert dialogue.
  • Press Control + Minus to bring up the Delete dialogue.
If you select a column or row first:
  • Control + Plus will automatically insert a column to the left or a row above.
  • Control + Minus will delete the selected column or row.

Reminder: To select a column press Control + Spacebar. To select a row, press Shift + Spacebar.
