Contrast Themes

Many different eye conditions, and other conditions, like migraine, involve a sensitivity to glare. The default settings on PCs of black text on a white background can cause difficulty and discomfort when viewing the screen. There is a choice of contrast themes in Windows that can be found in the Accessibility settings, and they can be thoroughly customised. The Contrast Themes available use a small palette of colours (with a contrast ratio of at least 7:1) to help make elements on the screen easier to see, reduce eye strain, improve text readability, and accommodate user preferences.
Press Windows + U to go directly to the Accessibility settings and Tab to the list. Arrow down to Contrast Themes and press Enter. Use the Arrow keys to choose a contrast theme. Tab to Apply and press Enter, or Tab to Edit and press Enter for customisation.
Once set up, switch the contrast theme on and off by pressing Alt + Shift + Print Screen. You will get a confirmation message, so just press Enter to go ahead.
Press Alt + Shift + Print Screen again to switch back to the default colour scheme.

Note: The Print Screen key is usually abbreviated to Prt Sc and is usually located to the right of the F12 on a full, standard keyboard. However, on laptops, the Prt Sc may be located in a different place, and also may require the Fn key as part of the combination.
