By default in Excel, a cell aligns to the left for text and to the right for numbers.
We can access all the alignment options in the Format Cells dialogue (Control + 1, then Control + Tab to move to the Alignment settings).
There is a quicker way, but we need to access the ribbon again. As mentioned last week, ribbon shortcuts are not always intuitive, but these alignment shortcuts make sense and are easy to remember. These shortcuts involve going to the Home ribbon, Alt + H, and then pressing single letters to perform to the alignment you require.
To align left, select the cell(s) and press Alt + H, then A for Alignment, then L for Left.
To align right, select the cell(s) and press Alt + H, then A for Alignment, then R for Right.
To align in the centre, select the cell(s) and press Alt + H, then A for Alignment, then C for Centre.
To align top, select the cell(s) and press Alt + H, then A for Alignment, then T for Top.
To align middle, select the cell(s) and press Alt + H, then A for Alignment, then M for Middle.
To align bottom, select the cell(s) and press Alt + H, then A for Alignment, then B for Bottom.
