Basic HTML View in Gmail

Basic HTML view is a simplified version of Gmail that has been around for a long time. It is an option for people who have a slow internet connection, and it used to be the most accessible version of Gmail for people who use screen readers.
However, as Gmail and screen readers have progressed, and Internet speeds have dramatically improved, there is now less of a need for this version.
Basic HTML View will not give you access to the range of keyboard shortcuts available in Standard Gmail View. It will not include features like spellcheck, chat and rich formatting. It’s a bit like Notepad versus Word.
Also, it does not provide integration with Google Docs and Google Calendar.
Follow this link to try out the Basic HTML View.
You will find that is it just like a simple Web page, where the Subject lines of the emails are the links to open each message. You can use Tab and Arrow keys to explore everything on the Gmail interface.
It also has a better colour scheme, if you are a High Contrast user.
If you like the Basic HTML View, there should be a link at the top of the page entitled “Set Basic HTML as Default View”.
If you want to go to Standard View, just close the browser and start again, and it will revert back.
Microsoft Edge and Mozilla Firefox work the same as above.
