Apply Scientific Format in Excel Spreadsheets

Another type of number format, with a direct shortcut, is Scientific.
The Scientific format is used for very large numbers. It displays a decimal number, followed by an E (for exponent), and then the power that the decimal number is raised to.
So, for example, a number like 14,512,345 in Scientific format is 1.45E+07.
To set Scientific format, select the cells and press Control + Shift + ^ (number 6).
Scientific format kicks in automatically if a number is way too big to fit in the column width.
To convert back to Number format, press Control + Shift + !
As mentioned before, Screen Reader users can get format details for a cell by pressing the Screen Reader key + F.

Thanks to Excel Campus for the graphic in this week’s shortcut.
