Selecting Multiple Files in File Explorer

Multiple file selection is an important skill to learn so that you can perform a copy, move or delete function on a number of files, at the same time.
To select a file, position on it in File Explorer using Arrow keys.
To select files that are next to each other in a list, select the first file, hold down the Shift key and Arrow Down. This will select the files as you go.
To select files that are not together in a list, select the first file then hold down the Control key and Arrow Down to the next file, and press the Spacebar to select this file. Keep the Control key held down and Arrow Down to the next file and select it with the Spacebar, and so on. Do not release the Control key until you have selected all the files.
To select all files in a list, press Control + A.
To unselect multiple files, just Arrow away from the selection.
All these functions apply when selecting folders as well, or a mixture of files and folders.
